Folk

Folk music is presented on Triple t by true music enthusiasts…

Judy Pomeroy
Folk coordinator and lone femme contributor to our early Saturday afternoon folk session, Judy has been with Triple t since 1984 and during this time has made a huge and very valuable contribution to our Folk sessions.
Judy’s music is inspired by that of the UK, which has a still lively, traditional based, appreciation of the finer art of acoustic music and vocal harmonies. Her folk sessions naturally lean towards this ‘pure folk’ segment of our music.
Judy and her husband Alan and daughter Cathleen form the long established, Townsville based trio ‘Poms from Oz’, currently performing locally and at folk festivals and venues along the east coast of Australia and from time to time in their musical home base, the UK. Judy plays guitar, sings lead and harmony vocals with the ‘Poms’ and composes and arranges music for the trio.

Allan Birch,
‘The old bloke with grey hair and glasses’, of age undetermined – even his mother won’t reveal it, a tad battle scarred and weary, but still with a heartfelt love and appreciation for the art of music making. His favourite indulgence and lifeline to sanity (?) is spending the odd evening playing Auto harp and singing Bluegrass and Old Timey String Band music with likeminded friends. His musical tastes tend towards that style of acoustic music, blended with a healthy dose of Australian contemporary and traditional Folk music, laced with the occasional vignette from the World Music and Blues catalogue.

Folk Presenter profile

Casper Schougaard

Casper trawls the oceans of folk music like a drunken sailor without a compass.

Testing the boundaries of what is folk, Casper will play everything from traditional folk, American and British folk revival, world folk, folk rock, electric folk, indie folk, progressive folk and the latest from the British nu-folk movement.

From Joan Baez to Laura Marling, Bob Dylan to Mumford and Sons, a detour through 18th Century reinvented traditionals and then a folk-styled cover or two of AC/DC or Iron Maiden, his shows are eclectic to say the least.

He is always on the hunt for new sounds and exceptional interpretations of traditional folk and will spend too much time surfing the internet following leads for new - and old - material for his shows.
You can hear Casper's take on folk on the second Saturday of the every month.

The team also includes John and Kerry Langan.

Lovers of Folk and acoustic music and those with an ear for sounds from the alternative side of the tracks, are bound to find something to their liking on Triple t Folk, each Saturday afternoon between 2 and 4 pm.

We welcome you as a friend, on Triple T Folk
